Welcome to our WebSite!

Welcome!

Living, as we do, far away from (most) family and (quite a few) friends, this site serves as a virtual community to keep us all (virtually) together.

In addition to the usual family picture torture chamber, there may well be something that interests non-family & not-yet-friends as well, with discussions on wine, food, and the good things in life. Also news, tools & tips, and even some culture...

Please feel free to participate. Welcome!

The new review system is in place in its initial incarnation. Look for a yellow star next to the title of a DVD or book, indicating that it has been reviewed. The review information is shown immediately below the book/DVD description. Note that there may be more than one review. Wanna try? Pop over to the Library.

Book of the Week

Books
Having profiled Noam Chomsky recently, it is only fair that we give some thought to someone who has little hesitation in taking a pot-shot at Chomsky - or anyone (everyone?) else, for that matter.

I refer, of course, to Francis Wheen, and "How Mumbo-Jumbo Conquered the World". Read on....

Books
This week's book is a real gem - no great literary classic, but something to make life simpler, which is worth a lot of late. It's Data Crunching, by Greg Wilson - part of the Pragmatic Programmers series.
